This is our home town. Our shop is about ten minutes northeast of the courthouse square, so a Lebanon call is never a special trip for us.
A town with two housing problems at once.
Lebanon is doing something unusual for a county seat this size. The Census Bureau put the city at 17,913 people as of July 2025, up about 6.9% since 2020, and the pressure behind that number is the LEAP Research and Innovation District on the west side of town, where Eli Lilly is building a multi-billion-dollar manufacturing campus. New subdivisions are going in to house the people who will work there.
At the same time, the older half of Lebanon has not gone anywhere. There are still hundreds of homes inside the original street grid around the courthouse square that were roofed and painted decades ago, plus the Ulen historic district, a separate incorporated town of about 114 people and 54 houses, completely surrounded by Lebanon, laid out around a country club that opened in 1924 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
Those are two very different jobs. A 2024 build off State Road 39 needs a warranty repair done right and a builder-grade gutter sized properly. A 1928 house on Ulen Drive needs somebody who will not wreck the original trim profile to save twenty minutes, and who knows that a shingle color chosen for a new colonial looks wrong on a 1920s roofline.
We work on both, which is one of the practical advantages of being a four-trade shop run by a family with nearly 30 years in the trade in this county. With a median owner-occupied home value around $195,600 and roughly 70% of Lebanon households owning rather than renting, most of the calls we take here are from people who are going to live with the result for a long time.

Four things come up on Lebanon inspections often enough that we look for them before you point them out.
Undersized gutter on 1970s and 1980s ranches
A lot of the housing that went up on the north and east sides of town carries 5‑inch gutter under a roof area that really wanted 6‑inch. It works fine until a hard May storm, then it sheets over the front edge and washes out the mulch bed underneath. Upsizing the gutter and adding a downspout usually solves it for good.
Ridge vent with no soffit intake
Somebody adds ridge vent during a reroof and never opens the soffit, so the attic has an exhaust and no intake. The ridge then pulls conditioned air up out of the house, the attic runs hot, and the new shingles age from the underside. We check intake before we quote a Lebanon roof, every time.
South and west trim failing first
On the older streets near the square, exterior paint almost always gives out on the south and west elevations years before the rest of the house. That is UV plus the original wood trim, and it is a prep problem more than a paint problem. Scraping to sound wood and spot-priming the bare spots is what makes the difference.
New-build siding that was never flashed at the kick-out
In the newer subdivisions we regularly find missing or short kick-out flashing where a roof edge dies into a sidewall. Water runs behind the siding instead of into the gutter, and the first sign is a soft spot in the sheathing two or three years later. It is cheap to fix early and expensive to fix late.

Lebanon is our home town, so it is usually the same week and often sooner. Our shop is roughly ten minutes from the square, which is why Lebanon jobs tend to get scheduled around whatever else we are already doing in the county rather than as a separate run.
Yes, and we treat them differently than a new build. Older Lebanon houses have original wood trim profiles worth preserving, plaster that does not like a fast interior repaint, and rooflines where the wrong shingle color reads immediately as wrong. The Ulen Historic District has been on the National Register since 2015, so we take exterior changes there seriously and will tell you what we think before we quote it.
Usually a detail that got skipped during a fast build, not a material failure. Missing kick-out flashing, a gutter sized for the elevation drawing rather than the roof that got built, and undersized attic intake are the three we find most often in Lebanon's newer subdivisions. All three are cheap to correct now and expensive to correct after the sheathing gets wet.
Requirements change, so we confirm with the City of Lebanon before every job rather than relying on what was true last year. Where a permit is required we pull it as part of the work. Ask us and we will tell you exactly what applies to your address.
