HomeRoofing
Roofing in Lebanon and across Boone County.
Roof replacement and repair, installed as a system rather than a stack of shingles. We are an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and Total Protection Roofing System certified, which covers the underlayment, ventilation and flashing that decide whether a roof reaches its warranty.
Repair or replace: how we actually decide
The honest answer is that most roofs we look at in Boone County are somewhere in between, and the deciding factor is rarely the hole you can see. It is the condition of the field around it.
A roof gets a repair when the damage is localized, the surrounding shingles still have granule coverage and flexibility, and the deck underneath is sound. A boot that dried out around a plumbing vent, a section of ridge cap that blew off, a valley that was flashed badly the first time: those are repairs, and we would rather do a good repair than sell you a roof you do not need yet.
A roof needs replacement when the shingles have lost enough granule that the asphalt mat is showing through, when they crack instead of flex on a warm day, when the seal strips have released across whole elevations, or when there is more than one layer already on the deck. Nail pops across the field and daylight visible from the attic are the other two that end the conversation.
We will tell you which one you have, in writing, with photos. If a repair buys you five more years, we will say so.
A roof is a system, not a bundle of shingles
Two crews can install the same Owens Corning Duration shingle on the same house and get roofs that last twelve years apart. The difference is everything under and around the shingle, and that is what our certifications cover.
Ice and water shield where Indiana needs it
Central Indiana gets freeze-thaw cycling that builds ice dams at the eaves. We run self-adhering ice and water membrane at every eave, in every valley, and around every penetration, not just at the two feet of overhang a minimum-code job would cover.
Ventilation that is actually balanced
This is the single most common thing we find wrong on Boone County roofs. A house gets ridge vent added without anyone opening up the soffit intake, so the ridge pulls conditioned air out of the house instead of pulling attic air through. The attic runs hot, the shingles cook from underneath, and the roof ages years early. Our Top of the House certification is specifically about getting intake and exhaust balanced, and we measure it before we quote.
Flashing, redone rather than reused
Step flashing at walls and chimneys is where old roofs leak. Reusing it saves an hour and costs you the roof. We replace step flashing, counterflashing and pipe boots on every tear-off.
Materials and options
Most homes in our area end up on architectural asphalt, but it is worth knowing what the alternatives cost you and what they buy you.
| System | Typical service life | Best fit | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architectural asphalt | 25–30 years | Almost every pitched residential roof in our service area | The default for good reason. Owens Corning Duration with SureNail is what we install most; the warranty upgrades only apply when the full system goes on. |
| Impact-resistant asphalt | 25–30 years | Homes that have already taken hail twice | Class 4 rated. Several Indiana carriers discount premiums for it. Ask your agent before you decide, because the discount can pay the upgrade back. |
| Standing seam metal | 40–60 years | Farmhouses, additions, porch roofs, low-slope sections | Costs more up front and is quieter than people expect. Panel expansion means the fastening detail matters more than the panel itself. |
| TPO or EPDM membrane | 20–30 years | Flat and low-slope roofs, additions, commercial | Shingles do not belong under a 2:12 pitch no matter what the last guy told you. See flat roofing. |
On cost: we will not print a per-square number on a website, because the number that matters depends on your pitch, your layers, your penetrations and whether the deck is sound. What we will do is give you a line-item written quote that names the actual materials and the actual squares, so you can hold it next to another bid and compare the same things instead of two different totals.
Good, Better, Best: our roofing packages
Most of our roofing estimates are built on Owens Corning products across three tiers, GOOD, BETTER and BEST, and each tier above GOOD keeps everything in the tier below it and adds to it.
| Tier | Materials | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| GOOD | Owens Corning Oakridge® shingles | Strong, reliable protection built on essential materials and services — dependable performance at an affordable price. |
| BETTER | Owens Corning Duration® shingles, Owens Corning WeatherLock® Mat self-sealing waterproofing barrier | Everything in GOOD, plus improved strength, better wind resistance and curb appeal, with upgraded ice & water protection against water intrusion and ice dams. |
| BEST | Owens Corning TruDefinition® Duration FLEX® algae-resistant architectural shingles, ProEdge® FLEX hip & ridge shingles, ProArmor® synthetic underlayment, WeatherLock® FLEX self-sealing ice & water barrier | Everything in BETTER, plus superior impact resistance and flexibility in extreme temperatures, a premium finished ridge and peak, higher tear strength and moisture protection, and maximum waterproofing at valleys, eaves and penetrations. |
Which tier fits your roof depends on the products and system components installed, and that is also what decides which of our two Owens Corning warranties applies — see the breakdown below.
How a roof job runs at your house
- Free inspection. We get on the roof, photograph every elevation, check the attic for ventilation and deck condition, and send you the photos whether or not you hire us.
- Written scope. Line items, material names, square counts, and what happens if we find bad decking once the old roof is off.
- Delivery and staging. Material comes a day or two ahead. We tell you where the dumpster goes and what your driveway will look like.
- Tear-off and dry-in, same day. We do not open a deck we cannot get dried in before dark. Beds and shrubs get tarped first.
- Install and cleanup. Magnet sweep across the yard and drive, haul-off, and a walk-through with you before the final invoice.
Warranty: what covers your roof, and what does not
Every job we do carries our own workmanship warranty, and roofing carries manufacturer coverage from Owens Corning on top of it. The two Owens Corning warranties get confused with each other constantly, and the difference between them is worth understanding before you sign anything.
Paint
Workmanship warranty on interior and exterior painting.
Gutters & guards
Workmanship warranty on gutter and gutter guard installation.
Our roofing warranty
Workmanship warranty on every roof we install, on top of whichever Owens Corning coverage the shingle qualifies for.
Owens Corning
Material coverage on qualifying shingles. Two different warranties, explained below.
Owens Corning System Protection Limited Warranty
This is the standard coverage on Owens Corning shingles and roofing components. It runs 50 years non-prorated on materials, meaning full replacement value with no reduction for age, then prorated for the remaining life of the roof. Qualifying products add 15 years of blow-off coverage and 10 years of algae-resistance protection. It does not include workmanship coverage. If a shingle fails under the warranty's terms, Owens Corning replaces the material. It does not pay to reinstall it, tear off the old roof, or cover labor. That gap is what our own workmanship warranty is for.
Owens Corning Preferred Protection Warranty
This is the upgraded coverage tied to our Preferred Contractor and Total Protection Roofing System certifications, earned by installing qualifying Owens Corning products as a complete system rather than a shingle by itself. It also runs 50 years non-prorated on materials and manufacturing defects, then prorated for the remaining lifetime of the roof, but it adds something System Protection does not: 10 years of workmanship coverage backed by Owens Corning, covering labor, tear-off, disposal and repair costs if the installation itself is at fault, not just the shingle.
Which of the two warranties a given roof qualifies for depends on the products and system components installed. We will tell you in writing which one applies to your roof before the job starts, not after.

What homeowners ask us about roofs.
One day for most single-family homes in our area, two for larger or steeper roofs. The crew tears off, dries in and installs in the same visit. Weather is the only variable we will not push through. We do not open a deck we cannot close before dark.
We do not, and we would encourage you not to let anyone else either. An overlay hides the deck so nobody can see rot or nail-holding problems, it traps heat which shortens the new shingles' life, and it voids the manufacturer's system warranty. It is cheaper on the day and more expensive over the roof's life.
We stop, photograph it, call you, and give you the per-sheet price before we replace anything. That per-sheet number is written into your original quote so it is never a surprise. Most roofs need a sheet or two; a badly ventilated one can need a dozen.
If the damage came from a covered event like hail or straight-line wind and you are inside your carrier's reporting window, usually yes. Age-related wear is not covered by any policy. We inspect free and tell you honestly which one you have before you file, because a denied claim can still show on your record. More on insurance roofing.
Not always, but it is the right moment to look. The drip edge and the gutter apron are being replaced anyway, the fascia is exposed, and if your gutters are already sagging or undersized the labor is far cheaper bundled than done separately six months later. See gutter replacement.
Yes: TPO and EPDM membrane, on residential additions and porch roofs as well as commercial buildings. Anything under about a 2:12 pitch needs membrane rather than shingles. See flat roofing.
Missing or curling shingles, heavy granules in the gutters, exposed decking and a leak that keeps coming back are the usual signs, but the honest answer comes off a ladder, not a list. Our inspection is free, and we put the repair-or-replace call in writing with photos. Here is how we make it.
Architectural asphalt runs 25 to 30 years here when the system under it is right. Ventilation decides which end of that range you land on. A cooked attic ages shingles years early, which is why we measure intake and exhaust before we quote.
Within 24 business hours, and usually sooner. Calling gets you a person fastest during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Yes to both. Roof projects start with 50% down, which orders material and holds your spot on the schedule, and the balance is due once the roof is finished and you have walked it with us. Financing is available on larger roofing projects, so ask us about options when we come out.
We do not advertise 24/7 or emergency service. Existing customers who have already had a roof installed with us get priority scheduling if something urgent comes up. For a new roof or a first inspection, the normal response time applies.
Where to next?
We will get on the roof and show you what is up there.
No charge, no obligation, and you keep the photos either way. If your roof has five good years left, that is what we will tell you.
